What is the difference between psychology and psychiatry?
Both psychologists and psychiatrists are trained to understand how your brain works, how you think, and how you behave. Psychiatrists are medical doctors who diagnose mental health conditions and often focus on prescribing medication for complex issues. Clinical psychology takes a more personalised approach to mental health care, nurturing deep therapeutic relationships to help you navigate life’s challenges with support and guidance. Psychologists can also treat patients using alternative approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT).

Emotional health at Darling Health
Emotional health is about understanding and managing your feelings while navigating life’s ups and downs. There are practical steps you can take today to support your emotional balance and empower you to take control of your emotional health.
- Listen to Your Body: Listen to what your body is telling you, rest when you need to, and respect your own time and space.
- Create Boundaries: Don’t be afraid to say no. Setting boundaries is essential for maintaining balance.
- Unplug Regularly: Take breaks from your phone and set it to aeroplane mode at night to give your mind a proper rest.
- Get Outside: Spend time in nature, move your body, and take deep breaths to reset and recharge.
- Practice Relaxation: Find a relaxation technique that works for you, such as meditation, breathing exercises, or tapping.
If you’re finding it difficult to manage your emotions or want extra guidance, we encourage you to book an appointment with Jacqui.
